For those of you who are here because you read last month’s blog about iPhone hearing loss apps, welcome back! If you’re dropping in for the first time we hope you enjoy our helpful and resourceful content on hearing loss and the latest hearing aid technology. The technological advancements that have been made in the last century are astonishing such as hearing aids that are practically invisible. Also, both Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android both offer great apps to help people with hearing loss.
Below you’ll find a list of Android apps to help with hearing loss. We here at New Generation Hearing Centers cannot stress enough that these apps are not meant to fully replace a proper hearing aid for someone who needs one at all times, and should not replace a visit to the audiologist. These are for short term or situational purposes only.
ClearCaptions – Adds free captions to your phone calls so you can both hear and read what is being said.
Petralex Hearing Aid – This app is literally a hearing aid using your phone. It supports shared profiles across multiple devices so you never have to set it up more than once. Petralex also offers real time audio playback and the ability to switch between the microphone on your phone or your headphones.
Tinnitus Balance – Creates customized sounds and music to listen to when your tinnitus is most intrusive.
Test Your Hearing – Checks your hearing. This should not replace a true audiologist visit, but will give you a good starting point.
